SUPPORTING THE MOVE TO NET ZERO
As the UK prepares to host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 1 – 12 November 2021, eyes are turning towards the responsibility business of all size has to consider the changes that can be made now to help the world move towards net zero in years to come. Changes that protect the environment, improve future sustainability and ultimately limit the impact of climate change.
First Steps Towards Net Zero
Corspace is on a mission to provide a professional, flexible, cost-effective and efficient work-space that owner operators and companies alike can use when needed. Corspace factored their part in the race to net zero from day one by considering how they could develop this service in a way that minimised its impact on the environment. This started with the decision to locate on Crewe Business Park,” a 67 acre site which was one of the first ecologically based developments of its kind and one of the first business parks in the UK to receive the prestigious Millenium Marque Award for environmental excellence.” (Cheshire East Council, n.d.)
The site is situated within walking distance of a regular bus service and major train station with links to local, regional and national villages, towns and cities.
A Greener Place to be
Plans for the habitation, operational and technical infrastructure of Corspace were developed using lots of natural light and air circulation, sensor operated lighting, localised heat and cooling and water saving solutions, together with cloud-based, paperless and wireless technology that collectively reduce the amount of natural resources needed to maintain the site.
Services, suppliers and consumables are sourced locally and seasonally in a conscious effort to limit the carbon footprint of the site and third-party operators. The building offers bike and kit storage with showers and changing facilities for those members who wish to exercise to work rather than drive.
Externally Corspace is surrounded by mature trees and green space, providing natural air purification and a habitat for local wildlife alongside areas reserved for nature protection and conservation. Electric car charging points are installed for members to use whilst on site.
Committed to the Race
Future plans include the development of outside eco-friendly work-space and further planting to encourage pollinators, together with beds providing a supply of fresh seasonal pick your own herbs.
Join the Race
Corspace serves an estimated population in excess of 1,651,527 within a 20-mile radius of the site. (Free Map Tools – Population Statistics, n.d.) Its easily accessible location for so many individuals, provides a valuable hybrid alternative to the lengthy carbon rich journeys by personal or public transport to reach city centre offices endured before the pandemic.
